FloodSaver Slide-N-Fold Pans

FAQs

FloodSaver® Slide-N-Fold™ Pans

  1. What is the best way to install the Slide-N-Fold®?

When sliding the appliance into the Slide-N-Fold® pan make sure the front side is flat against the floor and the corners are not caught in anyway by the appliance. We recommend placing of a piece of cardboard in the area which will protect the front side and can be removed after the appliance is in place.

  2. What is "Surge Capacity?"

A broken appliance can dump a relatively large amount of water in a short period of time. To buffer this possibility the pan must contain the water without overflowing the pan until the 2" drain line can drain the excess water. We call this "Surge Capacity."

  3. Why is the front of my Slide-N-Fold® visible under the dishwasher door?

The Slide-N-Fold® is 24" x 24". When fitted properly against the back wall of the cabinet, the front edge extends under the dishwasher door. While this intrudes somewhat into the toe-kick area, it is necessary to catch water dripping out of the dishwasher due to a leaking door seal - one of the primary causes of dishwasher leaks.

  4. How should the Slide-N-Fold® be plumbed and what kind of fitting does it require?

The Slide-N-Fold® uses a standard shower or sink-type drain fitted to a 1-1/2" or 2" line. Often plumbing inspectors will allow this line to be run outside to a drain because it is for an emergency only. This saves the empty gas trap problem. Check with your plumber.

  5. How do you keep the gas trap from drying out?

If a gas or P-trap is used a mineral oil or an oil made specifically for this application can be poured into the trap which will not evaporate like water and will seldom need attention. The plumber should be consulted on this.

  6. What precautions should I take when sawing through the Slide-N-Fold® to install the drain?

We recommend using a hole saw and RUNNING THE SAW BACKWARDS so as to cut through the material more gently and reduce the risk of tearing the material.

  7. What do we mean by "Creative Uses?"

Over the years our customers have found uses for the Floodsaver and Slide-N-Fold® pans that we would have never thought of. From dog washing stations to milling machines, pans used in labs to wash the sand off the toes without making a mess pans. Using an APFP2424 under the real Christmas tree stand to catch the water/protect the floor under the skirt. Creativity is great!
